But inside, the 1,900-square-foot colonial at 12 Alexis Lane is anything but typical.
With its geothermal heating and cooling system, foam insulation, sustainable bamboo flooring, and other energy-efficient features, the house is Mancusi's attempt at a new approach to home building that he hopes will have him seeing green.

In nearly every business, there are times when taking a step back is the best way forward. For Norman Mancusi, owner of Mancusi Builders LLC in southern New Hampshire, that time came in 2004. After more than 35 years as a builder - 23 of those as a framing contractor - Norman decided it was time to regroup.
In 2004, Norman closed shop as a framing contractor and set out as a home builder... Their long term objective: design and build affordable and sustainable homes.
Presently, Norman is building a green built, spec house in Sandown, NH and has registered the home for a LEED certification. The 1900 square foot, three bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home on a two acre lot has been a real source of pride for Norman. He says building it as a spec house has given him the freedom to do what he wanted.
